Asked if he knew what Thursday (last) day held, Pellegrini told Ufabet Sport: ‘I know, yes, it’s our holiday, January 16, last year they sacked Mourinho.
“It was a shock because nobody expected it to happen. It was not a good time for us,”
“At the end of November we read that they wanted to get rid of him (Mourinho), so we went to Thiago Pinto to ask if it was true and we explained that there was no need to get rid of him, we wanted him to stay with us.”
However, Pinto tells us it was just a rumour, but it ultimately turn out to be not, as Mourinho was officially sack on January 16.
“I had the best time of my career with Jose. We spoke on the phone right after he was sack and I wanted to clarify my position with all the nonsense that goes around the world. He understands. Mourinho is an incredible guy. He inspires you.”
